MAY WORKSHOP

From Page to Stage: Intro to Stage Directing

You’ve got the script, now what? How does the director create the world of the story in the theatrical space and get the audience to connect with it?

This interactive workshop invites you to experience some of the core elements of directing for the stage. We will explore script analysis, developing an overall vision, the basics of staging/composing stage pictures and some techniques for coaching actors.

If you’ve already tried your hand at directing, are already a performer with no plans to direct or are completely new to theater, there is something for you in this workshop! For those of you wanting to direct, you’ll leave with a few tools to add to your director’s toolkit. For performers, you’ll benefit from exploring the director’s perspective which can strengthen your audition process. For the theater newbie, you’ll enhance your understanding of the creative process and it just may spark a passion for a specific area of interest.
