DIRECTOR
Zachariah Stearn
Zachariah Stearn has worked professionally in the theatre industry as an actor, director, stand up comedian, and musician for the last 15 years. His enthusiasm for the craft and passion to teach young students more about the arts is the driving force of his love of the theatre. He has been recognized widely as a leader both locally and nationally in the performing arts. Since 2013 Zac has taught at the University of Southern Maine Theatre Academy which welcomes high school students to further master their craft. Since he first started, he has seen his students go onto pursue theatre full time and some have made successful careers on Broadway or in other performing arts fields.
Currently, he is the Artistic Director and Founder of Dirigo Theatre Company a semi-professional theatre based in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. The theatre is preparing for its inaugural season in 2025/2026 and has a focus on education and creative growth for the individual. He also serves as the Artist in Residence at Riverview Middle School in Plymouth, Wisconsin where he directs their Fall/Winter Musical and offers workshops to students to strengthen their skills on the stage.
Although a New Englander at heart, Zachariah recently relocated to the midwest and now makes Wisconsin his home. His theatrical experiences are rooted in his personal experiences with his mother who is Deaf. American Sign Language is his first language and whenever given the opportunity, he tries to add as much ASL to his productions when it serves the overall vision. His goal in doing so is to create a more inclusive arts community and have theatre be more accessible to the community. Zac is also the author of 5 to Places: Memoirs of a Theatre Kid which was released in January 2025 exclusively at Barnes and Noble.
