Directed by: Andrea Covey
Thomas, a beleaguered playwright/director, is desperate to find an actress to play Vanda, the female lead in his adaptation of the classic sadomasochistic tale Venus in Fur. Into his empty audition room walks a vulgar and equally desperate actress—oddly enough, named Vanda. Though utterly wrong for the sophisticated part, Vanda exhibits a strange command of the material, piquing Thomas’ interest with her seductive talents and secretive manner. As the two work through the script, they blur the line between play and reality, entering into an increasingly serious game of submission and domination that only one of them can win.
Thomas: Male, age 25-40. A playwright/director who learns much more about himself than he bargained for.
Vanda: Female, age 21-35. A perky young actress who comes off as ditzy/airheaded, who you soon learn she knows exactly what she's doing. No nude scenes, but must be comfortable being on stage in a bra and underwear.
There are intimate scenes between the characters. While there is no actual kissing or sex, actors must be comfortable getting up close and personal with each other.

Meet the Director
This is Andrea’s first show on or off stage with Studio Players. Andrea’s involvement with the theater in the Sheboygan area goes back to running spotlights for all but on show during Sheboygan Theatre Company’s 2000-2001 season. Since then, she has had a variety of on and off-stage roles from performing as Mrs. Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to performing in four years of – and eventually producing/directing two productions of – The Vagina Monologues.
Andrea is incredibly grateful to her husband of eighteen years, Aaron, for supporting her through every performance, committee she’s joined, and less-than-certain life change she has made.
