AUDITION INFORMATION
Location: Horace Mann Middle School Band Room- use door 17.

What to prepare:
Bring with you any conflicts you may have for the duration of the production.
Prepare a cut of a song (around 32 measures) that showcases your vocal skills. Please provide sheet music that lays flat, and pages turn easily as an accompanist will be provided.
We would prefer the song be in a pop/musical theatre style for most roles. If you are unsure of what to prepare, simply choose something you feel suits you best. You will still be considered if all you have is Happy Birthday.
We may ask you to read sides (short excerpts) from the show.
A headshot, resumé, and short monologue are all a plus, but not a requirement.
What to expect:
Arrive early to fill out any necessary forms. This will include your conflicts and basic audition info.
After your audition we may ask you to return for a callback. If scheduling allows, callbacks will be Wednesday night.
Unless you prefer another method, you will be contacted via email as soon as casting decisions are made.
Show information:
Rehearsals for Sister Act will begin 8/22/22 and run Monday-Friday 6:30-9:30. Tech weekend is 9/24-9/25 and performances are 9/30-10/2 and 10/6-10/8. While you may not be called to rehearsal every day, please be sure to list any scheduling conflicts.

Some songs may be cut from the show or spoken rather than sung. These decisions are not finalized.

Deloris Van Cartier
An aspiring performer, trying to find both fame and a place in the world. When forced to hide in the convent, she initially refuses to embrace her new lifestyle but learns to embrace it when she works with the choir. Loud-mouthed, and sassy, but ultimately caring.

Mother Superior
The head of the convent, sarcastic and a bit stiff. Extremely protective about keeping her sisters away from the outside world, which puts her in direct opposition to Deloris and her musical teachings.

Sister Mary Robert
A postulant, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy and soft-spoken, but singing with Deloris lets her find her voice. Her wallflower lifestyle has made her live a shell of a life.

Sister Mary Patrick
A nun of the convent. Consistently perky, enthusiastic, and easily excitable.

Sister Mary Lazarus
A nun of the convent and the head of the choir. Rather deadpan and the least welcoming of any of the nuns, but she gets caught up in Deloris's soul music.

One of the heads of the convent. Constantly concerned with financial matters, though soul music surprisingly puts him in a different mood.

Curtis
A club owner, notorious gangster, and Deloris's boyfriend. Cocky and controlling, always on the verge of violence.

Eddie Souther*
The desk chief at the Philadelphia police station and a high school classmate of Deloris who helps get her into hiding. Faces a lot of nerves when under pressure, causing him to sweat profusely. He still yearns for Deloris after all these years, and dreams of being her hero.
